Senahu

We are at Senahu today to do the incaperina distribution.  We had a safe trip here and made it up the mountain yesterday.  We had a portion of the trip that was like Indiana Jones but most of the most dangerous area has now been paved and so we were able to travel swiftly and safely.  There are mud slides everywhere!  We had to take a shortcut because the main road was blocked yesterday.  The country is so beautiful.  We had a huge rainstorm this morning but it cleared and these beautiful tropical bird started their songs, amazing.

Yesterday we went to a huge celebration in the community of Nueva Pañin.  They had just completed a water project from a little spring in the mountains down to the 42 huts in the village.  There was music and dancing and simple fireworks and palm branches and balloons.  In accompaniment with this water project we gave out the hygiene kits for the LDS humanitarian. This was a huge deal to have clean water delivered to their homes.  No more carrying water for miles every day.  It is this kind of project that i wish the church could have been involved with.  There is another group coming up next week that are going to help build kitchen gardens in this village so they can grow food.  We are partnering with this great QUE che group that is very forward thinking.  There are so many needs here and i love that we can be part of the solution.

It is market day today in the square so everyone is here to buy for the week.  It is amazing.  We rented two 4 wheeled drive vehicles in Guatemala City that had darkened windows so they couldn’t tell how many were in the car or that we were Americans.  The 4 wheel drive came in handy in several spots because it is so muddy and rugged.  Yvonne said sometime we need to come in the dry season to see how lovely it can be but this is part of the adventure. We were so muddy last night.  No water or electricity in our little hotel.  Thankfully we had water this morning…cold shower!

We will be here again tonight and then tomorrow we go to another village that has an Incaperina distribution.  Yvonne said that many of the mothers die in child birth here because of the malnutrition and the lack of medical attention.  She is proposing we help with a critical care maternity shelter where at risk mothers can stay close by medical personnel in Senahu.  Thank you so much for all each of you have given to help these mothers and babies.  I can see how great the need is here and what a difference it makes.  We are saving lives!!!  We still need to expand the program and have several ideas to help raise funds.  We hope you will be willing to help.

Tomorrow night Yvonne said we are staying at the most beautiful place on earth.  We are excited to do that. I love you all!!!!!  Pray for us as we do the same for you.

Dear Friends of Charity Anywhere,

Two weeks ago Charity Anywhere with the Heart Walk Foundation in St George sponsored a trip to Peru. The unique thing about this event was we had physicians and dentists help from Ecuador. We really need a portable dental chair and other equipment as you can see. These Drs. treated about 800 patients treating oral infections and intestinal parasites along with many other conditions. There is another trip planned to go to Peru in September and you are welcome to come. We have plenty of things you can do even if you are not a dentist or physician So plan to come. We will be making another side trip to Machu Picchu which is unbelievable. There are also many other events and projects you can participate in through Charity Anywhere.

Peru is only one of our projects. The Guatemala infant program is phenomenal as is Ecuador. We are going to make a contribution to the Petit Family Foundation as well. Dr Petit is a great human being. He is going through another rough time with the trial.

If you have committed to sponsor or bring a foursome please send your money and the names of the ones attending on the 13th of June. It is still being held at the Stonebridge Golf Course in West valley. Also Jimmer Fredette is going to be there barring any pro camps he needs to go to. I have been in contact with his dad Al. We had more people that said they could attend easier on a Monday than a Wednesday. If you have any ideas of what you want at the event let me know asap Golf is be a fun way to contribute. If you do not play golf you can send someone that does or just help with your contribution. Some of you have already sent in your generous donation and for that we thank you sooo much ! 🙂

We are only a month away!!! We need to have at least 18 foursomes so tell your friends.

I have brochures if you want them.

Send your check made out to Charity Anywhere and names of golfers to:

We teamed up with the Heartwalk foundation in St George and we are going back in Sept.

Please take this golf event seriously. It will be a lot of fun and we need to continue this important work.

I thank those of you that have already committed your money and encourage those who haven’t sent it in to do so as soon as possible. For your convenience you can do this online at http://www.golf4good.com. We get a service charge when you pay through paypal so if you can mail a check it would be better. But either way will work.

Sacramento Fundraiser a Success!

A local CAF volunteer, Molly Bushnell, 17, successfully organized a chilli cook-off to raise money for the Guatemala Incaperina project.  This was a very successful event that involved the community of Loomis, CA.  Our goal is to increase the number of children that are on the nutritional program there by 100. This project really helped us toward that goal.  There were many there that said they would go on-line to make additional donations.  Thanks Molly, for your hard work and enterprising spirit.  To make a donation just click on the “donate now” box and indicate that the money is for the Guatemala Incaperina program.”
